of New Yorkers say affordability and cost of living are their top concerns.

Yet, Albany’s job-killing wage law makes New York even more expensive.
Increasing the cost of housing by more than 20% in the midst of a housing crisis, forcing developers to either downsize or abandon projects entirely.
Pushing out jobs – last year, 40 states added construction jobs but New York lost nearly 7,000.
Hurting small businesses, MWBEs and nonprofit developers who can’t afford the cost increases.
New York already has the highest construction costs in the nation. Now is not the time to raise them.
The proposed bills (A6708/S6378) will “further destabilize the state’s economic outlook.”

States like Florida, Texas and North Carolina are aggressively courting our jobs. It’s time for New York to compete.
Take Action
Tell state legislators to let the Public Subsidy Board continue its work determining which construction projects should be subject to prevailing wage, rather than replace evidence-based determinations with blanket mandates.
